Yoga in the Hood- Marvin Gaye Park NE

Not long ago, the unofficial Mayor of Northeast DC, connected me with an opportunity to teach a Yoga class at the Marvin Gaye Park (NE DC)

Excited and eager to give back, I jumped at the chance to demonstrate a few asanas to our folks on the northern part of the Anacostia River. Not to anyone's surprise, there was little interest beyond the park employee who felt pity for me and volunteered to take the class.

Still, this venture was not in vain. While waiting for people to show up,  I learned that the park has  a Vegan Eat Smart program! This program is a 6-9 week course offering veg cooking classes,  fitness classes, nutrition and other amazing health ideas to low income communities.

I am certain that we can somehow bring this idea to Anacostia.  But for more info on Marvin Gaye Park contact the Director Autumn Saxton Ross.
